Types of Eczema

Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic recurring atopic skin disease. There is no exact known cause of this disease but there are several factors that aggravate the symptoms. The skin of a patient with atopic dermatitis reacts abnormally and easily to irritants, food and environmental allergens and becomes red, flaky and very itchy. It also becomes vulnerable to surface infections caused by bacteria. The skin on the flexural surfaces of the joints (for example inner sides of elbows and knees) are most commonly affected regions. Atopic dermatitis often occurs together with other allergy diseases like hay fever, asthma and conjunctivitis. It is a familial and chronic disease and its symptoms can increase or disappear over time. There is no cure for it in conventional medicine, but its symptoms are usually managed in conventional western medicine with various temporary relieving treatments like topical steroid creams or antihistamines.

Cradle caps, diaper rash and baby infant eczema
Infants are sometimes born with a symptom called cradle caps. It is also called infantile seborrheic dermatitis. Cradle caps usually subside naturally but sometimes can persist even after few months. So can other symptoms such as diaper rash. Baby eczema or infant eczema is a more severe kind of baby dermatitis and can frustrate the parents quite severely. Some babies can suffer from serious skin lesions that cause severe itchiness and wound seeping that might even lead to secondary infections and fever. Since for babies, even the usual over the counter grade tropical medicat on might be too strong for their sensitive skin, parents have a hard time dealing with these symptoms. Through Bliss Acupuncture Clinic’s Infant Eczema program, you can comfort the baby quickly and help them get better without worries regarding how the steroidal medication might negatively affect the baby’s natural growth and health.

Hand Eczema ( Dyshidrotic Eczema, pompholyx)
An eczema of the hands which starts with small fluid vesicles that are extremely itchy. These soon turn into dry cracks and flakes with continued itching. The whole cycle might take around 3 weeks that repeats. Topical steroid creamsalleviate the symptoms for a while but in the long term, aggravates the symptoms even more. This menacing symptom can be so harassing and cause severe insomnia to patients. Eczema creams and lotion for eczema, even oils for eczema are not much of a help with these symptoms. With Bliss Acupuncture Clinic’s Hand Eczema program, you can be free of the affliction in 3 months. As simple as that.
