Neck & Shoulder Pain
Cervical Disorder
Most conditions relating to neck pain are often induced by reverse force on the cervical spine. The cervical spine is normally C-shaped and bad habits and posture can eventually cause the spine to increasingly lose its natural curvature. If the cervical spine loses its proper curve, the discs in between the vertebrae will undergo added stress, accelerating disc degeneration and increasing susceptibility to disease in the area.
With today’s increasing use of computers and time spend at desks; it is reasonable to suspect loss of cervical curvature in patients who experience neck stiffness and pain. When the curve of cervical spine is lessened, the surrounding muscles will become stiff and cervicothoracic junction will be prone to protrusion. As with the shoulder pain case, VST acupuncture utilizes exams to observe position of the head and shoulder blades, the curvature of the spine, and balance in terms of muscle correlation to treat accordingly and effectively.
