History

Period of the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910): 1477

Book named “the Classified Collection of Medical Prescriptions”
written by Kim Ye-mong and other Korean official doctors from
1443 to 1445 was published. It collects more than 50,000 prescriptions
from 152 medical works of ancient China before the 15th century.

1613

Dongui Bogam written by Heo Jun (1546-1615) was
published, which is as Korean medical book divided into
5 chapters. Its categorization and ordering of symptoms
and remedies under the different human organs affected,
rather than the disease itself, was a revolutionary development at that time.
As of July 2009, it is on UNESCO’s Memory of the World Programme.

established which is the first and the most outstanding
Traditional Korean Medicine Institution.

2010

Apr: Bliss Acupuncture Clinic opens its 1st and 2nd offices
in New York and New Jersey.
Oct: Bliss Acupuncture Clinic opens its offices in Orange County,
CA, San Francisco, CA and Seattle, WA.

1894

Sasang Typology by Yi Je-ma divides people into
four types based on their traits of body shape and
characteristics which are Tae-Yang(Greater Yang),
So-Yang(Lesser Yang), Tae-Eum(Greater Yin) and So-Eum(Lesser Yin) type.
Yi Je-ma realized that even if patients suffer the same illness,
patients need to use different herbal applications to treat the
same illness due to the different metabolisms of individuals.
